Jeen Health · Legal

Terms & Conditions

Effective 14 July 2026 Applies to jeen.health & all Jeen Health orders Governing law England & Wales

The short version

  • Jeen Health is a trading name of Ultrasound Link Ltd (company no. 12147431).
  • Our tests are screening tests, not a diagnosis, and all content is information only - always consult a registered medical practitioner before acting on it.
  • Cancel before your genetic-counselling session → full refund. After it, we keep the counselling fee for the time you used (from £80 - see section 13).
  • NIPT: if you speak with our midwife and testing doesn't go ahead (for example, no qualifying scan), we keep £50 for the consultation.
  • Kits are dispatched by next-day delivery, only after counselling. Once a kit is dispatched, a £30 kit charge applies if you don't proceed.
  • Once your sample reaches the lab, the service is fully performed - no refund.
  • Turnaround is quoted in working days from when your sample reaches the lab - the lab's times, outside our control.
  • Genetic tests fail roughly 1-5% of the time. If yours fails, we redraw free of charge - we don't refund failed tests or delays outside our control.
  • A blood draw (phlebotomy) is not included unless the product page says so, or you add a partner-clinic or home option at checkout.

This summary is for convenience only. The numbered terms below are what legally apply.

01

Who we are

Jeen Health is a trading name of Ultrasound Link Ltd ("Jeen", "we", "us", "our"), a private limited company registered in England & Wales.

Company number
12147431
Registered office

We are CQC-registered and provide private genetic and prenatal screening services under the laws of England and Wales. By placing an order, creating an account, or using our website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our service. We do not provide emergency care - if you have an urgent medical concern, contact NHS 111 or attend A&E.

02

What we provide

We arrange private genetic and prenatal screening tests, including non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), carrier screening, hereditary-cancer panels, karyotyping, pharmacogenomics and polygenic risk scoring. Depending on the test, this may include:

  • a consultation with a registered clinician or genetic counsellor before testing;
  • a sample-collection kit (or an in-clinic / mobile-phlebotomist appointment) for sample collection;
  • laboratory analysis of your sample by an accredited partner laboratory (UK or overseas) and a clinical report;
  • a follow-up consultation to help interpret your report.

Exactly what is included is described on the relevant product page and confirmed at checkout. Where there is any conflict, the product page and your order confirmation take precedence over general marketing copy.

03

What we do not provide

  • Medical diagnosis or treatment. Our reports are clinical screening tools. Any decision about pregnancy, surgery, medication or other treatment must be made with your treating clinician and, where appropriate, an NHS specialist genetics service.
  • Emergency advice. If you have an urgent medical concern, contact NHS 111 or attend A&E.
  • Insurance, employment or immigration certifications. Our reports are produced for your personal clinical use.
  • Predictive testing of children for adult-onset conditions outside the limited circumstances permitted by British Society for Genetic Medicine guidance - we will decline these requests.
04

Medical information & clinical limitations

All medical, genetic and health content on our website, in our materials, and in your report is provided for information only. You should always consult a registered medical practitioner before acting on it. It is not a substitute for personalised medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, or for the NHS care and screening you are entitled to.

Our tests are screening tests - they are not a diagnosis. A screening result cannot tell you for certain whether you or your baby have a condition: a "low-risk" result reduces, but does not eliminate, the chance of a condition, and a "high-risk" or "high-chance" result is not a diagnosis and should be confirmed with a diagnostic test (for example CVS or amniocentesis for NIPT). You are responsible for the decisions you make based on your results.

05

Eligibility & acceptable use

You must be 18 or over and, unless a product page states otherwise, resident in the UK. You must be ordering for yourself, or for a child or person for whom you have legal authority to consent. Some tests have additional criteria - for example a minimum gestational age for NIPT, or exclusions for recent blood transfusion, bone-marrow or organ transplant, active malignancy or known chromosomal conditions - which are set out on the product page or discussed at your consultation. We will tell you if you are not eligible.

You agree not to:

  • submit a sample that is not your own, or that you do not have authority to submit, without first telling us;
  • misrepresent your identity, eligibility or medical history, or give false information at checkout or during counselling;
  • attempt to access, scrape or interfere with our website beyond normal use;
  • use our services for any unlawful purpose, including paternity disputes outside an accredited UK testing pathway.

We may suspend or terminate service for breach of these terms.

06

Consent

Genetic testing is "special category" data processing under UK GDPR. We require your explicit, informed, written consent before testing proceeds. The consent process covers what the test does and does not look for; possible findings (including incidental findings, variants of uncertain significance, and the chance of false positives or negatives); how your sample, raw data and report are processed, stored and, where applicable, transferred internationally; and your right to withdraw consent at any time before sample analysis begins.

If you withdraw consent before laboratory analysis starts, we will refund you in full and destroy your sample. After analysis begins we cannot refund the laboratory cost (see section 13).

07

Orders, prices & payment

  • Prices are shown on each product page in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. The price payable, including any optional collection add-ons, is the price shown at checkout.
  • Placing an order is an offer; we accept it by emailing your order confirmation. Until we accept, we may decline an order (for example on clinical-eligibility grounds) and refund any payment.
  • Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.
  • For tests that include a consultation, we ship your sample kit only after your consultation and signed consent.
  • We may update prices from time to time, but changes do not affect orders already placed.
08

What's included - and phlebotomy

The price of each test covers the laboratory analysis, your clinical report, any consultation expressly described on the product page, and a sample-collection kit for at-home self-collection - an oral/buccal swab, or, for tests that need blood, a kit for a blood sample you arrange to have taken.

A blood draw (phlebotomy) is not included in the price unless the product page expressly says so. If your test requires a blood sample, you may either arrange your own blood draw at no cost to us, or add one of our paid collection options at checkout:

  • a blood draw at one of our partner clinics; or
  • a home visit from a mobile phlebotomist or nurse.

The additional cost of these options is shown at checkout before you pay. Blood-collection fees, once the collection has taken place, are non-refundable because the service is delivered by a third-party provider (see section 13).

09

Consultations, counselling & rescheduling

Some tests include a consultation with a midwife or GP. For most tests this consultation carries no separate charge and is not itself refundable or retained. NIPT orders are the exception: the midwife consultation is covered by your £50 deposit (or by the order price where you pay in full). If, after speaking with our midwife, testing does not go ahead - for example because the required documents, such as a qualifying ultrasound scan, cannot be provided - we retain £50 for the consultation delivered. This is stated at the point of order and accepted at checkout.

Where you book a paid consultation with a registered genetic counsellor, that is a professional service delivered with your consent. If you go ahead and then decide not to test, we retain a fee for the counsellor's time actually delivered, as set out in section 13.

You can reschedule a consultation by giving us reasonable notice. Repeated no-shows or last-minute cancellations of a paid genetic-counselling session may be treated as time delivered and charged accordingly.

10

Kits, dispatch & sample collection

Where your test includes a consultation, your kit is dispatched only after that consultation has taken place, so we can answer your questions before you provide a sample. Kits are then sent by next-day delivery (Royal Mail or courier, depending on the test) to the address on your order. You are responsible for giving us an accurate delivery address and for collecting and returning your sample in line with the instructions provided. Because these are medical kits, we cannot generally accept returns once a kit has been dispatched, except where the kit is faulty, incomplete or sent in error.

If your kit arrives damaged, incomplete or incorrect, tell us within 24 hours of delivery (with your order number and, where possible, photos) and we will arrange a free replacement or, if you prefer, a full refund.

11

Turnaround times

Turnaround times shown on our product pages are the laboratory's processing times. Where shown in days, they are working days (Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays), measured from when your sample reaches the laboratory - not from when you order, and not from when your kit is dispatched. Where shown in weeks, they are approximate calendar-week estimates.

These times are set by the laboratory and are outside our control. We cannot speed them up or change them, and the figures given are estimates rather than guarantees.

12

Delays outside our control

Results sometimes take longer for reasons we cannot control or influence, including customs or import checks, courier or postal delays, laboratory backlogs, and failed test runs. We will keep you informed if we become aware of a delay, but we are not responsible for delays outside our control, and they do not entitle you to a refund.

13

Cancellations & refunds

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you normally have 14 days from placing your order to change your mind. Because our service involves clinical time delivered with your consent, a sealed medical sample kit, and laboratory analysis that cannot be undone, the amount we can refund reduces as we begin delivering the service, as follows. Nothing in this section affects your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where a service is faulty or not as described.

When you cancelWhat we keepWhat we refund

Genetic-counselling retention fees

Session lengthIndividualCouple
30 minutes£80£160
45 minutes£110£110
60 minutes£150£150

These retention fees apply to consultations with a registered genetic counsellor. Midwife and GP consultations included with other tests remain free either way, with one exception: the NIPT midwife consultation, retained at £50 where testing does not go ahead, as set out in the table above and in section 09. The couple rate applies to the 30-minute session; the 45- and 60-minute sessions are charged at the single rate. Optional blood-collection fees are non-refundable once the collection has taken place.

*No refund in these cases. We do not refund failed tests (we offer a free redraw instead - see section 14) or delays outside our control (see section 12). Once laboratory analysis has begun, the service is treated as fully performed and your statutory right to cancel ends.

Returns of unused kits - 30 days, free. If you have received a kit and change your mind, you may return it unused within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the kit price. Returns are free - email us at my@jeen.health and we'll send you a prepaid return label; there is no kit administration charge on a kit returned unused within this window. We refund to your original payment method within 5-10 working days of receiving the returned kit. For hygiene and safety we cannot accept a kit whose seal has been broken or whose contents have been used, except where the kit is faulty (section 10). The £30 kit charge above applies only where a dispatched kit is not returned to us unused.

Pregnancy loss (NIPT). If you suffer a pregnancy loss after ordering but before the laboratory has analysed your sample, please contact us - we will refund you in full wherever your order is in the process. We are sorry for your loss.

How refunds are paid. Approved refunds are made to your original payment method via Stripe, normally within 5-10 working days. We cannot refund to a different card or account.

14

Test failure & free redraws

Genetic tests carry an inherent chance of failure - typically 1-5% - where the laboratory cannot obtain a reliable result from your sample (for example due to low DNA yield, sample quality, or a failed sequencing run). This is a normal characteristic of the technology, not a fault in our service.

If your test fails, we will arrange a free redraw (or re-collection) and re-analysis at no extra cost to you. We do not offer refunds for failed tests.

15

Accuracy, limitations & "no result"

No screening test is 100% accurate. Detection rates and false-positive / false-negative rates vary by test and condition and are described on the relevant product page. Rare biological factors - such as low fetal fraction, confined placental mosaicism, a vanishing twin, or maternal genetic variation in NIPT - can affect a result or mean the laboratory cannot report a result at all. Where no result can be given, section 14 applies (a free redraw is offered; the test fee is not refunded).

16

Third-party providers & laboratories

Parts of the service are delivered by carefully selected third parties. Their own terms, availability and service areas may apply to the parts they provide, and some are located outside the UK (see "International transfers" in section 17). We remain your point of contact for your order, but we are not responsible for the independent acts or omissions of a third party beyond our reasonable control.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so - including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for breach of your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Subject to that, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss (including loss of opportunity or business losses), or for decisions you take based on your results, and our total liability to you in connection with any single order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.
