Tasso Home Collection Kit

How to collect blood with the Tasso device

The Tasso device is a small, single-use kit that collects a blood sample from your upper arm without a needle in your vein. A gentle button-press opens tiny channels just under the skin, and the sample is drawn into a collection tube. It takes a few minutes at home - no clinic visit, no phlebotomist. Follow the four steps below to collect your sample correctly.

  1. Attaching the green collection tube to the Tasso device
    1

    Attach the collection tube

Take the green-capped collection tube from your kit and attach it to the base of the Tasso device until it clicks into place.

  2. Pressing the button to activate the Tasso device on the upper shoulder
    2

Place on your shoulder and activate

Press the device firmly onto your clean, dry upper shoulder so it sticks, then press the red button to begin collection. Keep it in place and let the tube fill.

  3. Collection tube filled to above the 400 mark
    3

Check the blood level, then remove the tube

Fill to at least 200 above the 400 mark - close to the top, but do not overfill. Once there is enough blood, remove the collection tube from the device.

  4. Closing the tube, gently shaking it, and sealing it in the biohazard bag
    4

Close, shake and prepare for return

Close the green cap securely and shake the tube gently to mix. Complete the label, seal the tube inside the biohazard bag, and return it using the prepaid packaging in your kit. Don't forget to include your completed test requisition form in the box.

Posting window - Monday to Wednesday only. So your sample reaches the lab fresh, post it back on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. We cannot accept samples posted after 12pm on Wednesday - if you miss the window, hold your kit and post it the following Monday. Because of this window, Tasso results take around 7 working days longer than our other collection methods (about 17-21 working days in total).

Please note: the Tasso blood collection device may very rarely leave a permanent mark of approximately 2 mm on the shoulder. Although the mark is usually barely visible, please consider this before selecting this blood collection option.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How much does a karyotype test cost?

A Jeen Health karyotype test costs £290 for a single person and £550 for a couple. Both options include lab analysis at our Spanish partner laboratory and a clinical-grade results report. Genetic counselling is available on request and is not included as standard.

Where can I get a karyotype test?

Your sample is collected at home with our free Tasso Home Collection Kit - the default option, with no clinic visit or appointment needed. You can also have your blood drawn at one of our 40+ partner clinics across the UK (Jeen Clinic Network, +£40) or book a home-nurse visit (+£65). Tasso samples post back Monday to Wednesday and results take around 17-21 working days.

How long do karyotype results take?

Turnaround depends on how you collect your sample. The clinic and home-nurse blood-draw options take about 10-14 working days from when the lab receives your sample. The default Tasso home-collection kit takes a little longer - about 17-21 working days - because Tasso samples can only be posted Monday to Wednesday. Your genetic counsellor reviews every report, and we book a follow-up consultation if findings are high-risk.

Why might I need a karyotype test?

Karyotype testing is most often recommended after recurrent miscarriage, unexplained infertility, or where there's a known family history of chromosomal disorders such as balanced translocations or large deletions. It identifies structural changes that hormone panels and standard fertility tests miss.

Do I need a GP referral for karyotype testing?

No referral needed. Anyone aged 18+ can book Karyotype Chromosome Analysis directly with Jeen Health. Your kit will be on its way 2–3 days after we confirm your test choice in your free 30-minute consultation.
