Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No referral is necessary, our specialist midwifes provide guidance and support before and after NIPT. Our genetic counsellors are available to explain your results and discuss further options if needed.
When can I take the test?
From 9 weeks of pregnancy. In some cases you might have to wait till week 10 of pregnancy depending on our lab partner
Where can I get NIPT in Newcastle?

When can I take the test?
Some NIPTs that we offer at Jeen are able to start screening from 9 weeks of pregnancy. However, most labs offer NIPT from around 10 weeks of pregnancy because fetal DNA levels before that are too low for their analysis type.
Does NIPT test for all genetic conditions?
No. Most NIPTs only focus on specific chromosomal anomalies such as trisomies 21, 18 and 13 and sex chromosome differences. However you may choose to do an extended NIPT options that test for more conditions.
Will I learn the baby’s sex?
Sex chromosome analysis and fetal sex prediction are optional. We can include this information if you choose.
