Midwife NIPT counselling is a dedicated appointment to help you choose the most suitable NIPT and understand what it can, and can’t, tell you. You’ll discuss test options, accuracy, limitations, and what different results could mean before you proceed.
NIPT is typically offered from around 10 weeks, depending on the test. We recommend booking counselling as you approach eligibility so you can choose the right option and plan your blood draw without delays. We also offer early NIPT from 9 weeks with Aneuploidy NIPT, UNITY Complete, Panorama, and Panorama Microdeletions.
Your midwife will guide you through the options, including: Aneuploidy NIPT (our baseline option), PrenatalSafe and KNOVA. Each has different strengths and limitations, and the best choice depends on your pregnancy and preferences.
Your kit is sent once consent is complete and any outstanding invoice is paid. If you upgrade your test, the kit will not be dispatched until the additional invoice has been paid in full.
We have a clear pathway for high-risk screening results and work closely with London Pregnancy Clinic to support next steps. Your midwife will explain what the result means, what confirmatory testing options may be considered, and how follow-up care can be arranged.
You can also view accuracy information on our NIPT statistics page.
Your midwife will review your medical history, pregnancy details, and scan information, then explain:
- Which NIPT options may be suitable for you
- Test accuracy and limitations
- Possible outcomes and next steps
You’ll also have time to ask questions and discuss what matters most to you.
Because NIPT is a medical screening test and we believe patients should be fully informed before testing. Jeen’s midwife-led counselling is designed to make sure you understand your options and feel confident about your decision, especially when choosing between basic and more comprehensive screening.
Yes. If you switch to a less expensive test, we refund the price difference within 5–10 working days. If you upgrade to a higher-priced option, we’ll invoice you for the additional amount after your consultation.
Yes. If you would prefer a more in-depth discussion, you can choose a genetic counselling appointment instead of midwife NIPT counselling. Genetic counselling is more comprehensive and is offered at a higher price, as it involves deeper review of your personal and family history, detailed discussion of test scope and limitations, and support with complex decision-making.
Our baseline option is for you to self-organise your blood draw locally. If you prefer, we can organise your blood test for you for an additional charge.
Our team of Expert Specialists is here to help. Whether you're curious about testing, your results, or what’s right for you. We're just a message away.
