It has very high detection rates for Down’s, Edwards’ and Patau’s syndromes but is still a screening test. You can self‑refer for our NIPT with counselling is included in the package.
NIPT is usually offered first because it is completely safe and can give highly accurate early screening results without any risk to you or your baby. It only requires a simple blood sample.
CVS and amniocentesis are diagnostic tests, but they involve taking a sample from the placenta or amniotic fluid and carry a small risk of miscarriage. By starting with NIPT, most parents can avoid an invasive procedure entirely.
NIPT can be done from 9 weeks, while CVS is usually performed from 11–14 weeks and amniocentesis from 15–16 weeks. If NIPT shows a high-risk result, your clinician may recommend CVS or amniocentesis to confirm the diagnosis.
Jeen Health ships kits to all Bristol neighbourhoods including the City Centre, Clifton, Redland, TempleMeads, Bedminster, Bishopston, StokesCroft, Totterdown, Filton and Bradley Stoke. For those who prefer a clinic visit, our partner clinic near the city centre can collect your blood sample.
Some NIPTs that we offer at Jeen are able to start screening from 9 weeks of pregnancy. However, most labs offer NIPT from around 10 weeks of pregnancy because fetal DNA levels before that are too low for their analysis type.
Our package price includes the kit or clinic visit, counselling, lab processing and report. There are no hidden fees. You will be charged extra if you choose to have your sample collection organised by us.
The NHS provides NIPT to selected high‑risk pregnancies. Private NIPT is available to anyone. With Jeen you can self refer to get NIPT done.
