Are estimated to have cancer in their lifetime in the UK
Up to 10% of those are due to genetic mutations we test for, such as BRCA1, BRCA2 and more.
From the 1,008 genes we screen for in our carrier screening test. Making this test actionable and clinically significant.
However, some mutations such as BRCA1 can indicate a risk of >70% for breast cancer in your lifetime.

I cannot recommend LPC enough. We had a truly excellent experience from start to finish. Unfortunately, our NIPT results were not what we had hoped for … the way the clinic handled the situation was outstanding. They were incredibly professional, compassionate, and proactive throughout … It's especially important to choose a clinic that provides exceptional care when things don't go as planned, and LPC delivered a genuinely five-star service in every respect.
The sonographer was very professional yet personal, and I felt she was truly curious about aspects of my history/pregnancy to get a holistic view. The scan took an hour, which I regard as a positive as she went through everything in detail. I got my NIPT results delivered on a Sunday during a bank holiday, which I was impressed with as I didn't expect it during the weekend.

She answered all of my questions, laid out information for me clearly and in a way that was easy to comprehend, and told me how follow-up would work. She listened to all my thoughts and concerns carefully and without judgement. Honestly, when I get my NIPT results back, I'd only want to talk to her.

Dr Karin Meeds performed the ultrasound with great care, attention, and sensitivity … It was noticeably more detailed and accurate compared to the scans typically carried out by the NHS at the same stage. My husband and I felt very comfortable throughout and had a truly positive experience.

What is genetic testing?
Genetic testing looks at your DNA to find changes or variants in your genes. These changes can tell us if you’re at risk for certain inherited conditions, like hereditary cancers or if you’re a carrier for a genetic condition.
What can genetic testing tell me?
It can reveal if you have a higher genetic risk for certain cancers (like breast, ovarian or bowel), if you’re a carrier for inherited conditions, or if you have a genetic condition that could impact your health or your family’s.
Will the results tell me if I’ll definitely get a disease?
The meaning of your results depends on the type of test you've had. Some genetic tests are screening tools that assess the likelihood or risk of a condition, while others are more diagnostic in nature. Genetic tests can look for variations in your DNA that may be associated with certain conditions. In some cases, a result may indicate an increased risk, but not a certainty, of developing a condition. In others, it may suggest you carry a genetic change without it ever affecting your health. Not all people with a disease-causing variant will go on to develop the condition, and some without a detectable variant may still be affected due to non-genetic factors such as environment, lifestyle, or chance. Always discuss your results with a qualified healthcare provider or genetic counsellor to fully understand what they may (or may not) mean for you and your family.
How does it work?
It’s simple. You’ll first speak with one of our expert Genetic Counsellors. Depending on your location and the type of test, you’ll either receive a saliva kit in the post for an at-home cheek swab, or you’ll need to give a blood sample. Blood collection isn’t included in the test price: you can arrange your own blood draw at no extra cost, or we can arrange a draw at our partner clinic in Shoreditch, Spital Clinic (+£40), or a home-nurse visit from a mobile phlebotomist (+£65). Your sample is then sent to a certified lab in the UK or US, and results are typically ready in under 4 weeks.
Is my data safe and private?
Yes. At Jeen Health, your data is encrypted and stored securely on our GDPR compliant servers, as well as with our vetted laboratories. Your results are only shared with you and your dedicated Genetic Counsellor, never with insurers or third parties.
Is genetic testing only for people with a family history of disease?
Not at all. While a strong family history increases your risk, many people with genetic conditions have no known family history. Testing helps you uncover hidden risks you wouldn’t otherwise know about.
